Help Veterans Heal Through the Power of Art-VeteranArt.Org
Organized by: Jason Collins
We at VeteranArt.org believe in the healing powers of art- whether it is painting a landscape, sculpting a face, or drawing an animal- the peaceful serenity that comes from art can do wonders to calm a mind that has been through a traumatic experience. Our organization does just that, gives veterans a stress/alcohol free environment and be with other veterans to talk, make some art, and build a sense of calm camaraderie-while at the same time being able to get guidance from local art professors who have volunteered their time.
What we need funding for is materials such as sketch books, pencils, canvas, paints, paint brushes, clay, and sculpting tools for these brave men and women who have returned seeking the camaraderie they had while in the service and to help aid the healing process from any unseen battle scars they might be dealing with.
Along with providing this service to veterans, renown sculpturist Greg Marra- who has dontated space at his studio for this cause- is willing to give one veteran a job from the program, who is in need of one, each time he gets a commission for a sculpture memorial through his organization SculptingOurHeroes.com; veterans building memorials to veterans.
