Vets 4 Homeless Kids Coat Drive
Organized by: HillVets
Support HillVets' 2nd Annual Veterans Day Weekend Coat Drive for the children living at DC General Homeless Shelter. With the winter season right around the corner, veterans and service members continue their commitment to the community by helping to meet a critical need, providing winter coats, for children in the DC metro area.
This winter, roughly 500 children are residing in the shelter. The majority of children in need of coats are 6-13 year olds. These sizes are in highest demand, but we will also be collecting jackets for infants, toddlers and teens as well. The coats will enable the children to attend school regularly, play outside, and stay healthy during the freezing winter months.
The goal is to purchase enough coats for EVERY child living in DC General Homeless Shelter this winter season. HillVets is coordinating with local businesses and community leaders to form partnerships and promote the drive. Please help us keep the children of DC General Homeless Shelter warm! Donations of any amount are welcome, but if you are interested in donating money toward a particular size, please see pricing estimates below. DC General Homeless Shelter management estimated that they will need about 400 coats for children aged infant to 10 and the remaining 100 for 11-17 year olds.
Infant and Toddler jackets range from: $15-$20.
Boy and girl winter coats sized for ages 4-9 range from: $20-25 per coat.
Boy and girl winter coats sized for ages 10-17 range from: $25-30 per coat.
Thank you for your donation to this important cause.
