THE STORY:

The Veterans Family Fund of America is dedicated to raising and dispersing funds to improve the lives and futures of veterans and their families.

Most nonprofit’s "expense budgets" are divided generally into two categories, ‘Program’ and ‘Operation,’ our goals and objectives follow the same pattern, giving focus to what we consider as crucially important as we prioritize and work within projects like: www.vetsbikes.org and www.NA2EVS.org (both are projects that we fund) . The Goals and Objectives are always written from the viewpoint of sustainability. The intent is to ensure that important operational elements are included as we continue to assess the value for the veteran.
In the past, the goals and objectives proclaim and focus the VFFA organization and provide direction, the goals and objectives are reviewed yearly by the Board of Directors. This year has focused on homeless work via the State of Washington’s Building 9 program (see attached).
While many nonprofits are just a “one trick pony” we work hard to find many social enterprise methods to bring awareness and funds to our projects.
Yes, many charitable organizations purchase bicycles for veterans rehabilitation programs, we strives to partner with their efforts by capturing the niche of using donated spare parts to build fitted bicycles for veterans to keep for their own and continue cycling after graduation from veterans rehab programs.
• Most competitive and recreational cyclists have spare parts, extra bikes, and equipment in their homes that go unused. We see our niche as a desirable outlet to donate those items with a tax-deductible benefit.
• Our goal is that no veteran is denied a rehabilitation opportunity due to lack of resources; bicycles are our contribution to this effort. Many bikes we build will be handed to individuals identified by veterans’ programs as the most likely to become “lifer” cyclists and expanding beyond that as inventory allows.
We currently work closely with the Warrior Transition Battalion at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and the Washington State Veterans Administration to identify worthy cyclists.
