Veterans Yoga Project (VYP) supports the mindful use of yoga therapy to aid recovery and promote resilience among veterans, their families, and their communities. You can support VYP's mission now with a gift through its fiscal sponsor, the Feathered Pipe Foundation.
In September 2013, VYP is holding Rest, Restore, and Reintegrate: A Healing Retreat, a four-day program designed for Montana veterans who have struggled with mental health issues that interfere with successful post-deployment re-integration into the community. This healing retreat will provide veterans with instruction and practice in evidence-informed, clinically-tested self-regulation techniques, opportunities for engaging in various therapeutic recreational and community-building social activities, and education about resources for post-retreat community reintegration.
Please help us make this retreat for veterans possible!
VYP's other programs involve providing:
- Free yoga and meditation practice guides and CDs to veterans, active-duty service members, and the clinicians and treatment facilities that support them
- Training for yoga teachers on how to safely and effectively teach mindful yoga therapy to individuals recovering from trauma
- Opportunities for its trained yoga teachers to serve other veterans by providing yoga therapy as a complementary therapy in mental health and addiction treatment programs
