BENEFITING: VETPAW INC
Like many of you, I was outraged when I heard the story of the killing of Cecil the lion by a trophy hunting dentist from Minnesota. As one does in this digital age, I took to the interwebs to learn more. Cruising through Twitter I came across angry tweets by Ricky Gervais and Sharon Osbourne, I saw a video of Jimmy Kimmel nearly coming to tears, and I read about the nasty things people were writing on Yelp about this dentist. All of this stoked my anger and deepened my outrage. If only there was something I could do!
And that's when it hit me, there is something I can do. Ranting on Twitter, venting my anger on Facebook, it might make me feel better but it doesn't help anything. It doesn't train an anti-poaching ranger, it doesn't prevent another illegal kill. So instead of a generating a bunch of ineffectual bluster, let's use this opportunity to do some good. That is why I've started the DoIt4Cecil campaign. All funds from #DoIt4Cecil will be donated to Veterans Empowered to Protect African Wildlife (VETPAW) to help train post 9/11 war veterans as anti-poaching rangers.
Will you join me? Together, we can make a difference.
