Veterans for Veterans of Archuleta County is a volunteer charitable organization, 501 c (3), comprised of veterans supporting each other through the hardships of readjusting to civilian life. Sharing the experiences of the benefit application process, struggles with PTSD, career building frustrations and other adjustment issues, these veterans continue to serve their country by supporting each other and their community with courage and honor.
Veterans for Veterans of Archuleta County uses their General Fund to fulfill their mission, which is below:
Veterans for Veterans of Archuleta County is a 501 c (3) organization established exclusively for charitable purposes, more specifically:
For veterans to help veterans.
To provide financial assistance to veterans in need.
To advocate for the veteran with the Veterans Administration.
Provide information and experience resources.
We provide outreach to veterans in our community and assist in a variety of needs such as:
Assistance in accessing medical, dental and eye care.
Emotional assistance to help overcome the scars of war such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injuries and effects of Agent Orange.
Information and emotional support to family members of veterans.
VA Appication process information and support.
We provide these services to our community by:
Holding weekly meetings to provide the veteran up to date information and a place to share experiences and fellowship.
Arranging and providing office space for a Veteran Readjustment Counselor.
Arranging transportation to out-of town VA appointments.
Offering veterans financial support from the organizations general fund.
Maintaining the 970-799-VETS (8387) crisis line
Holding yearly fundraisers to support the general fund.
Cutting wood for heat.
