BENEFITING: Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk, Inc.
ORGANIZER: Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk, Inc.
For 40 years, VIBS has been providing hotline, counseling, advocacy and community education/prevention services to victims of domestic violence, rape/sexual assault, child sexual abuse, elder abuse and human trafficking.
This year, VIBS will provide services to over 7,000 survivors in Suffolk County, New York. One in four women and one in five men will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. WIth 1.5 million residents in Suffolk County, this means over 350,000 victims reside here. The statistics are about the same for rape/sexual assault. VIBS services are vital to these victims.
VIBS runs the SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners) units, the only 24-hour rape crisis centers in Suffolk County, which are located at Good Samaritan Hospital, Peconic Bay Medical Center and Stony Brook University Medical Center helping victims of all ages.
If you are or have ever known a victim of violence, I hope you will help support my organization in helping these most vulnerable survivors of violence.
Your donation of $100 can provide 6 advocacy support visits to victims of domestic violence or elder abuse. $250 can provide 3 months of counseling to a victim of domestic violence. $500 can provide 10 community education and prevention services to high school and college students. $1,000 can provide 25 hours of legal representation to a domestic violence client.
