As some of you may know I am running the Boston Marathon on April 20, 2015, known as Patriots' Day in the New England area. I was blessed to qualify into the Boston Marathon after I ran the NYC 2013 Marathon on behalf of Hope for the Warriors. This time around, I was not sure what charity I wanted to support despite the fact that there are many noteworthy causes. However, on March 13, 2015, a woman by the name of Ms. Angela Hicks the Executive Director with Institute of Women Today (IWT) came to my church to speak to our youth group about her job and that weekend I reached out to her and asked her if I could fundraise on behalf of IWT. This organization supports homeless women in the Englewood Community located in the Southside of Chicago. Currently, the women's shelter holds 50 individuals, and separately there is a family shelter located at 96th and Commercial. Ms. Hicks shared that their goal is to get people on their feet within 120 days, but the average has been about 8 months. She also shared that she has seen some of the women go on to graduate from school, get their own places, and move on to become success stories. What a blessing! I was very touched by Ms. Hicks' testimony and the fact that she shared that her job is to sow seeds and help the less fortunate. Please join me to do the same.
On behalf of IWT, I invite you to make a contribution. It does not matter how big or small. IWT would appreciate any amout, as every cent matters.
Thank you in advance for your interest and your kindness to help others!
As far as the Boston Marathon is concern, I will ensure to share a couple of pictures with you all.
