VIBS Family Violence and Rape Crisis Center (VIBS) was established in 1976 as the Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk. Over the past 40 years, we have been providing counseling and advocacy to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence and their families and have since expanded our services to include elder abuse and human trafficking.
Our mission is to assist adult and child survivors of domestic violence, rape, sexual assault and trafficking; to prevent the incidence of these crimes through education and services; and to raise community awareness for justice and compassion for victims.
In 2017 VIBS is on track to serve over 9,000 survivors of child sexual abuse, rape/sexual assault, domestic violence, elder abuse and human trafficking in Suffolk County. This is a projected 15% increase over last year!

•90% of elder abuse occurs within the family

•Sexual assaults occur every two seconds in the U.S.
•Has a 24 hour hotline
•Runs the only rape crisis centers in Suffolk County
•Provides advocates to assist with legal matters
•Provides Lawyers to asist DV Victims in Divorce and Custody Cases
•Has an robust volunteer program, including our Rape Crisis Counselors who are on call throughout the year to provide support to victims of sexual assault
•Provides counseling to survivors and their families
•Has a community education team that educates the community on how to prevent/report abuse
