It's funny how things come together sometimes for no apparent reason. During a recent trip to NYC, I was struck by how many homeless people there still are. Always tempted to just give these people some change, I thought better of it as that might not do much good, and might even just continue to enable them and not do anything to help them move forward in their lives.
I have been doing triathlons for a few years now, and decided to try the NYC Triathlon in July, 2015. (Born and raised in Queens, NY, kind of getting back to my roots). I have never done this Olympic distance, so I figured what the heck.
The coincidence was that I came across this neat organization, Back on my Feet, which uses running to help homeless people develop strength, self confidence and self sufficiency. Their track record (no pun intended!) is amazing and inspirational. Just check out the videos, you will see what I mean.
Anyway, I am happy to say that I am training for the NYC Triathlon (July 19, 2015-- wow! Now this is public so I really have to do it!) as part of the NYC Back on my Feet team, and raising money for them by participating in their fund raiser.
I hope you take the opportunity to check out the race, the organization, and hopefully donate to the Back on my Feet Fundraiser under my name to help me reach my goal.
