BENEFITING: STOMP Out Bullying
EVENT DATE: Dec 06, 2014
I passionately believe that no child should ever have to feel scared to go to school; no child should ever be shamed or made to feel inferior by his or her fellow peers; and no child should ever have to go through this tortuous process alone without knowing that help is out there.
My life is hugely influenced by my experience as a victim of bullying throughout middle school and high school. Going through this process, I felt extremely alone and ostracized. Luckily, I turned to running and used it to cope with the experience and to turn my life around. As a result, I would like to use this occasion to raise and donate funds to this cause that I hold very close and dear to my heart.
For those who don't know, STOMP Out Bullying helps students in need by providing free counseling, help-line, in-school education, materials and brochures, and peer mentoring programs for victims of bullying and cyberbullying. You can find more information on STOMP Out Bullying here: http://www.stompoutbullying.org/
In March this year, I completed my first marathon in Rome and finished in 4:38. I would like to challenge myself to complete my second marathon in 4:10 in December's North Face Trail Marathon and use this occasion to donate to a cause that I've been very passionate about. For every $1 dollar raised, I will donate additional 25 cents to the pot. I hope all of you can support me on this journey!
