Better Healing through Xbox.
Help give the gift of play to hospitalized children in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
With the help of the Mott Golf Classic and Gamer's Outreach, 225 hospital rooms were outfitted with Xbox 360 systems for the children at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.
These games distract kids from pain, help them through treatments, make time go by faster and keep their spirits up during difficult times.
Access to these games makes many young patients feel at home. These kids just want to be kids; and playing games while in the hospital supports socialization, encourages motor movement and aids in problem solving. Many children are confined to their rooms due to risk of infection or other side effects - so access to games, music and movies truly lifts their spirits.
There's just one problem - a severe lack of games to choose from.
Volunteers take video game carts to these children every day, but the selection of games is very limited. The young patients are interested in games that are usually unavailable.
My goal is to change that. My goal is to stock this cart so full of games that it will resemble a portable Gamestop.
With your help, the children at C.S. Mott will have access to so many games that when they see the gaming cart roll by, their eyes will light up with joy. Because they deserve those moments of happiness.
Xbox 360 games are cheap now, ranging from $2 up to $60, so even a small donation can go a very long way.
I think it's important that these kids get the gift of play to make their stay more enjoyable and brighten their spirits.
