VietPride Scholarship Fundraising 2015
Team Member: Jill Nguyen
Dear friends and family,
I don’t believe in Valentine’s Day, but I believe in love. I don’t believe in a “special” day for extravagant gifts and grand declaration of affection, but in opportunities, support, and care. Besides, romantic love is not the only love that needs celebration. I wouldn’t be who I am today without all the love from my family, friends, and colleagues. Thank you for loving me for who I am.
It breaks my heart knowing that there are so many people who are disadvantaged for being who they are. I was raised to be a true believer in equality, I joined the Human Rights Campaign in May 2013, the summer went down in history as the summer of marriage equality. It was also the same summer that I learned about Viet Pride, a non-profit organization working to improve access to education and quality of lives for Vietnamese LGBTQ Youth. Many of those are not only facing financial hardship to access education, but also prejudice from their very own society. Some are kicked out of their own homes. Some live in fear. Some are struggling simply just to make a few bucks a day to survive.
They deserve to feel the love.
This Valentine’s Day, will you be my valentine by helping me raise at least $1,000 for Viet Pride’s Scholarship Fund?
Roses die and sugar rush only lasts for sometimes. Why not help built a happily ever after for Vietnamese LGBT Youth? Like romantic gestures, all contributions count. Your support will mean the whole world to me, to VIet Pride, and to the future researchers, artists, entrepreneurs...of Vietnam.
Be my Valentine today.
About Viet Pride Scholarship:
