BENEFITING: NATIONAL FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
I WILL BE RUNNING THE MARATHON IN FULL FIRE GEAR, HELP ME RAISE MONEY FOR OUR FALLEN FIRE HEROES!
63 Firefighters have been lost this year (as of 9/25/14). On average over 100 fire heroes are lost each year. Families are left not just with the loss of their loved one but with a financial burden. You can help in easing this burden by raising money with me for the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation.
What will I be doing:
I will be running the Boston Marathon in 2015 to fundraise for the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation (NFFF). I will be running all 26.2 miles in bunker gear with SCBA (air bottle) to help raise awareness of our fallen heroes.
The Boston Marathon is scheduled for April 20, 2015.
There are too many firefighter fatalities each year. With the advancement in technology and with better gear the number of firefighter deaths has not decreased. I want to raise awareness both in the public and within the fire community that changes must be done. Heart attack is the leading cause of death in firefighters and if me running the Marathon helps motivate 1 firefighter to change her or his lifestyle then it was a success.
Last year I went to the funeral of Lt. Walsh and seeing his family made me want to do something to help all the families of these heroes. I want to help the NFFF raise money so they can help families in need.
You can help by going to www.Crowdrise.co/vigilforfirefighters and donating. All donations go Directly to the NFFF. My goal is to raise $50,000 to help firefighters and their families.
