BENEFITING: American Pit Bull Foundation
Vika was born into a dog fighting operation in Charlotte, NC. In early 2013, she was rescued from her terribly neglected environment as a very tiny puppy and brought into Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control. Once the dogs were released from the pending court case against her owner, APBF took Vika in to rehabilitate her and prepare her for life with a loving family. Since Vika's arrival, APBF has teamed up with other community members to assist with her care such as Wyolina Kennels and her current trainer, K9 Coach. Vika missed her prime socialization period and started life with us very afraid of the world around her. Though she has made fantastic progress mentally, we have found that Vika has terribly luxated patellas which, as she has grown, has led to a deformity in her tibias. This has recently caused Vika issue and coupled with a torn cruciate ligament, she now will require corrective surgery with NC State University. Please consider contributing to Vika's care in helping to raise funds for her surgery, in helping to find her forever home by sharing her story, and in raising awareness to help stop the sort of abuse and neglect she endured prior.
