I never imagined I would say I ran three half-marathons after having kids, but I did. After training for the first half, I realized how good it felt to push past the limits of what I thought I was capable of both physically and mentally. It seemed insane. But I ran that first half-marathon in Lexington, Kentucky amidst horrible conditions and so many hills and I ended up beating my anticipated finish time. Fast forward to present day. Now when I say I am going to run the Chicago Marathon, that seems insane. But I know how far I've come, and how far I can go if I put my mind to it.
And there is someone else that is inspiring me this time. His name is Oliver and he teaches me something about working hard and overcoming obstacles. This little boy inspires me to try harder and be better. One day I will tell him how this seemed impossible for his Auntie Vikki to do, but he gave me strength to put one foot in front of the other. I am running for this wonderful organization that does so much for the Down syndrome community. They are doing such important work. I am proud to be a part of their team. If you can make a donation, in any amount, please know from the bottom of my heart how much I appreciate your support.
All my love,
