Recovery Advocates of America is a 501C3 not for profit, peer to peer center that strives to provide education around the disease of addiction, tools to sustain recovery through engagement, and reduce the stigma of addiction within our community. Our center is instrumental in providing all people suffering from the disease of addiction a safe haven to get treatment options and support through all stages of their recovery, including tools and resources for families. RAA offers crisis interventions, support meetings, 12 step introduction and family programs to keep addicts and families engaged. Our mission is to provide a platform and network for those who seek it, to strive for and achieve continuous, sustainable recovery with no financial obligations or fees.
This year, or 5K Run/Walk for Recovery will be held on Saturday, September 23 at Mercer County Park’s West Picnic Area. All proceeds from the event will go directly into sustaining and expanding RAA’s C.A.R.E. Program, active in nine police precincts across Mercer County, and the client (either by flight or by car), meals for clients, toiletries, overnight fees, medical costs, care fund. The C.A.R.E. Program is designed to assist suspects arrested on any drug charge who indicate that they would like to a Recovery Coach in order to seek treatment options. It suits the unique needs of each participating township including anything from police training to educational awareness within both the schools and community. Since the program’s 2016 inception, our data concludes that we have been 89% effective in assisting those who have indicated they are looking for help. Of the 11% who refused initially, 5% have contacted us within a week of meeting us for assistance. In many cases, we use our client care fund to cover transport costsand sometimes even clothing. As the number of people seeking help increases, the ability to have access to these programs are crucial to the sustainability of our organization.
