About Girls Inc. of NW Oregon
The mission of Girls Inc. is to prepare girls for confident and economically-independent adulthood. All girls are ages 8 - 20 and include those particularly faced with poverty, juvenile crime, substance abuse and school failure. At the Northwest Oregon division, 85% of the girls live in poverty, 50% are ethnic minorities and 75% have been impacted by family violence.
Each year Girls Inc. of NW Oregon reaches over 2,500 girls with our strong, smart and bold programming. 100% of participating girls attended school regularly and delayed pregnancy. Year 1 of the Associates Mentoring Program engaged 60 girls and 20 mentors, raising over $50,000 in contributions. Ten cities nationwide offered our local Allies in Action program, reaching a total of 15,000 girls.

2011 VIP Day Project
Volunteers will assist in filming a video featuring some of Portland’s and Junior League’s women business leaders, media personalities and charitable fundraisers.
Number of Volunteers Requested: POSITIONS FILLED ALREADY. Please choose another project to volunteer for. You may continue to fundraise using this project page and donate in-kind items, however.
The video is to have a “power of women” theme and will focus on empowering its viewers to believe in themselves and what they can achieve. It will support Girls Inc.’s 4 pillar structure ofHealthy Relationships, Healthy Bodies, Healthy Futures, & Healthy Fun and their Miss Representation campaign. Filming location is TBD.
In-Kind Donation Requests: professional videographer services (camera with camera man and microphones for interviewing a group of 12), professional soft box lighting kit to use for filming (on loan), video editing, rendering and duplication services, location for filming (such as a hotel meeting room). If you are a video or media professional with experience as an interviewer, your services would also be appreciated!
