About Girls Inc. of NW Oregon
The mission of Girls Inc. is to prepare girls for confident and economically-independent adulthood. All girls are ages 8 - 20 and include those particularly faced with poverty, juvenile crime, substance abuse and school failure. At the Northwest Oregon division, 85% of the girls live in poverty, 50% are ethnic minorities and 75% have been impacted by family violence.
Each year Girls Inc. of NW Oregon reaches over 2,500 girls with our strong, smart and bold programming. 100% of participating girls attended school regularly and delayed pregnancy. Year 1 of the Associates Mentoring Program engaged 60 girls and 20 mentors, raising over $50,000 in contributions. Ten cities nationwide offered our local Allies in Action program, reaching a total of 15,000 girls.
