BENEFITING: JUNIOR LEAGUE OF PORTLAND OREGON INC
EVENT DATE: Oct 22, 2011
Thank you to everyone who volunteered at and donated to support JLP's Volunteer in Portland (VIP) Day project at Raphael House of Portland on October 22. The project was a great success and well received by the shelter residents.
Volunteers raked and cleaned up the outside property; taught 10 residents how to cook Chicken Tortilla Soup using a crock pot and prepare healthy, affordable meals for their families; provided childcare for the residents' children during the cooking class.
JLP also gave each resident gift cards to Fred Meyer grocery, crock pots and the ingredients to make the Chicken Tortilla Soup on their own.
We made it to our $25,000 fundraising goal! Thank you to everyone who donated and fundraised to support us!
This funding supports all of JLP’s community programs throughout the year. We’re accepting VIP Day donations through November 30 by donating here or by sending a check to JLP.
Special thank you’s to all Junior League of Portland members and their family and friends who donated the crock pots for this project.
And, thank you again to all of our corporate donors: City of Portland’s Environmental Services division, Compass Coffee, East Burn grill, Fred Meyer, Home Depot Foundation, Lowe’s, North Portland Tool Library, Pacifiwild Catering, Widmer and Young’s Market.
We look forward to seeing you all at the next Volunteer in Portland Day in 2012!
