BENEFITING: JUNIOR LEAGUE OF PORTLAND OREGON INC
EVENT DATE: Oct 22, 2011
The Salvation Army White Shield Center has been located in Northwest Portland since 1917. We serve the needs of pregnant and parenting clients between the ages of 12 and 18, and have added an additional program to serve the needs of adolescent girls who need a safe, secure and nurturing environment. Clients are referred to the programs by state social service agencies or the juvenile justice system.
The White Shield Center treatment philosophy maintains that individuals will make positive changes for themselves when provided with the appropriate teaching, support and opportunity to do so. Using evidence-based practices, clients are provided a “treatment team” approach that offers culturally competent, gender-specific services that are individualized to address the specific needs of each girl.
