On Saturday, May 9th at 50 years young, I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Human Service from St. Edwards University.
My favorite part of school was the journey: the scholarly professors who are executive staff members with non-profits in Austin, the books I read, the researched I poured my heart into, the critical thinking skills I gained and the confidence it built.
These are opportunities that I didn't have as a child. My mom had to make a decision between the mortgage and food on the table - there was no money left for school supplies. The sad thing about not having school supplies was I knew we were poor and I was not on a level playing field. It is my desire to create opportunity for children of the working poor and that is why I virtually run and really raise money for students.
My goal is to raise $3000 so that 150 children can have a new backpacked filled with school supplies.
Donate because it feels good, any amount you give is going to make a difference & it's fun to see the smiles on children's faces as their lives are changed!
Your gift gives hope and builds confidence and that is an awesome way to start the first day of school!
