– Leif Coorlim, Executive Editor, The CNN Freedom Project
In May 2013, the CNN Freedom Project featured Visayan Forum’s innovative work to end human trafficking and slavery. CNN highlighted the story of three girls who at age 12 were trafficked into cyber-pornography. Thousands of others who were helped by Visayan Forum, suffered similar or worse fates.
While their story of slavery is shocking, the end is not of tragedy nor sorrow. The kids are now honor students in school too. Their resilience and hope empower other survivors. Their courage has led into the conviction of a criminal.
They were instrumental in the crackdown of one of the largest international ring of online criminals. The VF survivors lead also in the iFIGHT movement, they are true fighters. Read more of Visayan Forum’s interventions.
Yes! You can be Freedom Fighters too. You can help us win the real battle against slavery on the ground.
How can you help?
Your gift saves a Filipino child from slavery.
$5.00 can provide three (3) full meals a day per child.
$10.00 can help the children with their school supplies, clothing and hygene needs
$100.00 can help us ensure any of the following:
• Save a child from human trafficking and slavery;
• Provide shelter, education, and skills to victim-survivors;
• Heal the trauma of victims; and
• Send and keep at-risk children in school.
$6,000.00 will establish the iFIGHT Against Human Trafficking and Slavery Movement in a school, community, or church to enlist iFIGHTERS who can advocate antitrafficking and anti-slavery among the youth.
$20,000.00 for one year, can help empower impoverished and indigenous communities to crack down on traffickers and develop social enterprise for the parents, to prevent sourcing of human trafficking victims from their villages.
Help restore their freedom, dignity, and their childhood.
