Vivians Stem Cell Transplant against Cancer at Dana Farber
Organized by: Jean Briggs
At 57 years old Vivian and her husband Gary are just celebrating their 37th year of marriage and having finished the years and expenses of raising 2 grandsons after tragedy of one of their daughters left the 2 toddlers in their care. What a long rollercoaster ride of life they had been riding on. Now they were ready for a little quiet time. OH NO!!! Instead after severe back pain sent Vivian to the hospital they received the devastating news she was diagnosed with an extremely rare CANCER Plasma cell Leukemia/ Multiple Myeloma and she has to be sent immediately to DANA FARBER Cancer Institute. Imagine how frightening!!!! We are hoping to raise funds for Vivian and Gary as unfortunately their insurance will not cover clinical trials, experimental treatments and stem cell transplant which are her best treatment options, and travel and lodging expenses are so high in the Boston area for Gary to be there with her. Vivian is not able to work in the foreseeable future because the cancer has eaten at her spine and she needs to be helped (sometimes carried) to move around and Gary is unable to work as he is Viv's 24/7 caregiver. The loss of income and large added medical, living, and travel expense to Dana Farber will be financially devastating for this family. Your donations will go to help pay for all these expenses so her husband can remain by her side throughout her treatments which leave her feeling so weak and ill.
