Hello friends - I recently saw a screening of the film "Call Me Kuchu" here in NY. The film is about the life of David Kato. He was killed for his stance on Gay Rights. I was so moved by it that I had to do something. I was shocked at how few Africian Americans were at each screening ,and how uninformed the general population is on this Human Rights Issue. Recently the country has passed this really hateful Anti Gay Bill. Here your friends and family could go to jail for not identifying you as a member of the LGBT community. In cases of repeated Transgressions you could get life in jail or death. I was so moved and hurt but this powerful film I decided that I would not be silent to this insanity. I contacted the Director and decided that I would hold a series of screening of her film followed by Q&A . I decided to also commit to raising awareness and money for the LGBT Community in Uganda so they could continue to fight on for their human rights and safety. I appreciate your support in this endeavor.
I am fundraising for FarUganda.org, a non-profit charity that supports LGBT in Uganda.
