BENEFITING: New York City Coalition Against Hunger, Inc.
EVENT DATE: May 04, 2011
HOURS PLEDGED: 30
There are 3.5 million homeless people in this country. Here’s another frightening statistic – 1.35 million of those homeless people are children, according to a 2007 report by The National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty. Many homeless individuals will eventually find jobs and homes, and others will take refuge in shelters and satisfy their hunger at soup kitchens.
My goal is to raise $ $1500 which will fund the Coalition’s anti-hunger efforts, like helping families access government food benefits, increasing access to fresh, local food in low-income areas, advocating for anti-hunger policies and of course, continued support to the City’s food pantries and soup kitchens.
Will you be one of my sponsors and help us meet this goal?
You’d be amazed, I think, to learn that for every $2 donation made, food banks are able to distribute $25 worth of food to hungry and homeless people.
I’m asking $5 dollars from each friend, but any amount is appreciated! To support me in my efforts, please visit my personal page www.crowdrise.com/loveisfree
