Volunteer Service Project to Ghana!
Organized by: Jordan Campbell
EVENT DATE Mar 16, 2014
On the Public Health in Ghana Alternative Spring Break Trip you will volunteer to help with community-based medical outreach work and public health campaigns. Ghana is a rapidly developing African country, but where many people, especially children, do not receive regular medical care and there is need for more education about public health concerns.
This project is located in Ghana. It provides care to communities that otherwise do not have regular access to medical services. The second is prevention of disease through education. Under the guidance of our professional medical coordinator, the group will get involved with activities such as medical check-ups for children at orphanages, dressing wounds in a leprosy camp, performing checks of vitals on babies, immunization drives, and discussions on health and hygiene with local schools and community groups. I have recently been inspired to leave my comfort zone and begin the next chapter of my life. This new chapter is helping and inspiring people through medical opportunities.
