Who: Myself and a team of people from Northwestern Mutual
What: Rebuilding a bridge
Where: Nueva Armenia, Honduras
When: June 13-20, 2015
It’s that time of the year again where I share an update about my dream of going on an international mission trip every year, and I would like to ask you to partner with me. This June, God is making that dream a reality for the second time! I am joining six of my Northwestern Mutual colleagues out of the Boston, MA office, to travel to Nueva Armenia, Honduras this summer and will be partnering with Signs of Love. The team leader, Travis, and his wife, have been partnered up with Signs of Love for over 10 years and continue to make a significant impact with their yearly trips and support of the people of Honduras. I met Travis in the Spring of 2014 at a business event in Milwaukee that we were both invited to and we found out we both share a love of international mission work.
Nueva Armenia is a poor coastal town that brings in the majority of its income through fishing alone. When asked what would be the most help to them, the community leaders requested that we rebuild an essential, but terribly broken down bridge. This bridge is used by many in the village for both economic and social purposes, and as of right now, it is unsafe to cross. Due to the extreme circumstances, they are not able to cross over many of the hurdles to help their community advance and rise above the poverty, but they believe this will make a huge impact.
In order to accomplish this, we need your help. We are raising money for this project and would like you to consider giving. We are partnering with an organization called Signs of Love. They are based in Honduras where they do outreach to the deaf community who are often times marginalized by society. They have been in contact with the community leaders in Nueva Armenia and will be overseeing the project.
As I prepare to embark on this exciting journey, I know I cannot do it alone. Please prayerfully consider donating to this community and to the work we will accomplish there to help lives be changed for the better. We also request your prayers! We believe that God has big things in store for our team, and we ask for prayers of safety, health, team unity, and for God to use our hands to do all we can during our time in Honduras! Thank you & God Bless!
