Vulnerable Orphans and Children Project
Organized by: Sarah Cronk
EVENT DATE May 26, 2014
First of all, I want to thank you so much for taking the time to check out my page and consider helping out! I have always wanted to travel to other countries and help others who are less fortunate than we are and I've received an incredible opportunity with Habitat for Humanity. I was accepted to travel to Malawi, Africa July 11-July 20 with a pre-selected team to build a home for orphans and their caretaker in a rural village!
Habitat for Humanity is a fantastic nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. Habitat for Humanity has more than 1,500 local affiliates in the U.S. and more than 70 national organizations around the world. They have helped build or repair more than 800,000 houses and have served more than 4 million individuals worldwide!
The cost of the trip is $2,060, not including air fare. That cost includes the motel, food, and an important donation to Habitat for Humanity so that others are able to continue to build safe housing even after I return. I have not been able to get an exact cost of the plane ticket yet, however it is believed to be around $1,800. The program cost is due 45 days from the build date, which would be around Memorial Day. A bit of a time crunch!
This will be my first ever trip to Africa, as well as my first experience with Habitiat for Humanity and I couldn't be more excited! Every dollar helps get me closer to my goal and closer to an experience of a lifetime. Even if you don't have the ability donate funds, I would greatly appreciate you sharing this page with your friends to help get the word out. I truly believe this is worth every cent. It will be so fulfilling to improve the quality of life of even 1 child, let alone dozens!
Again, thank you so much! By donating or even sharing this page, you are contributing to bettering the lives of children :) Let me know if you have any questions!!!
