Solo's Interview -- In case you missed it
April 01, 2016
Vuya Village on the southwestern tip of Vanua Levu, Fiji was severely devastated by Tropical Cyclone Winston, the strongest storm ever recorded in the Southern Hemisphere. All houses and infrastructure were severely damaged with many families losing everything. It is going to take a lot of effort for the community to rebuild. With their plantations destroyed, our friends and family will be facing shortages in food and income that will make it even more difficult for them. We are raising money that we will send directly to the village for building supplies and other needs.
Fijians are resilient and resourceful, and we have already heard how they are working together to salvage food and housing materials. We want to help these people that we hold so dearly, who have taught us so much about what it means to be a community and a family. The village has worked so hard to reach their sustainable development goals over the past five years that it is heartbreaking to see such a major setback. Everyone is thankful to be alive and will be so grateful for any support you are able to provide to help get them back on track.
Even a small contribution can help with nails, rice, or a bag of cement.
Vinaka vakalevu (thank you so much)!
