EVENT DATE: Jun 01, 2014
Warrior Walk was started to raise funds for University of Rochester Medical Center for programs developed to help patients with the after affects of dealing with cancer. After a patient is labeled a survivor, many patients feel at a loss, her they have had people like Doctors and Nurses and all other medical personnel showing them the way through treatment. Treatment is done, a patient can feel lost, unsure of what to do know. I was one of those patients. But at my checkups now the Doctors and Nurses are telling me the next steps, more thorough with their instructions so I don't feel like I was thrown to the curb. I believe in the programs they are starting, I believe people who continue to fight cancer need to have programs, more support groups, psychologists who specialize in treating cancer patients. It is almost like your last day of school when being told you are cancer free, the teachers and leaders who have been with you for years are suddenly not there anymore and the whole wide world is out there again for you to re explore. We still need some leadership, some guidance and by raising money for these programs I believe we will get what we are looking for.
