Each year, GENaustin holds its annual We Are Girls Conference in November. We Are Girls is designed especially for girls in grades 3-12 and the adults who care about them. It connects individuals with questions to the experts who have the answers, giving girls the vital resources they need on bullying, creating positive body image, and many other topics. This year’s theme is Take the Lead.
GENaustin ensures that girls who cannot afford the $30 ticket price have access to scholarships so they can receive this valuable information.
I’m joining GENaustin in this endeavor and hosting a VIRTUAL fundraiser to raise scholarships for the event. I’ve set a personal goal to raise $2,500.00 in 24-hours!
Please join me in supporting this very important cause and have a hand in sending a girl to a conference that will change her life!
Bucket loads of gratitude for taking action now!

Did you know that three-fourths of girls with low self-esteem engage in harmful activities, such as disordered eating, bullying, smoking, or drinking?
Fortunately, GENaustin’s annual We Are Girls Conference exists so that girls in Texas can access the support and tools they need to build healthy self-esteem and avoid risky behaviors. Girls learn confidence and leadership tools through positive body image building, financial literacy, career exploration, and college readiness workshops.
This year’s event is predicted to serve 1,800 girls, parents, and educators. However, over 50% of the girls’ families cannot easily afford the $30 ticket price, and that’s why we need your help!
GENaustin partners with many community agencies and schools to ensure that ALL girls can access this special event. One such partner is Austin ISD's Social Work Intern Specialist, Kate Amerson. The interns Kate supervises work with some of Austin's lowest income students. Each year, she ensures that her team of social work interns bring girls to the We Are Conference, because of the impact it has on these young women. As Kate shares:
“Every girl who is sent to the conference impacts a classroom of other students. I’ve watched girls who attended return to their school community and suddenly become interested in joining student council and other activities. They return with this sense of confidence that comes from the power of seeing so many people spend a day together celebrating their potential.”
It’s clear to Kate that GENaustin’s scholarship program is critical to the continued success of the We Are Girls Conference. “It broadens the diversity of attendees and enriches the experience of all the participants. And the community, in turn, is enriched by the leadership potential that is activated in the girls.”
The girls at Kate’s schools will be receiving scholarships to the conference again this year. However, many more girls like them cannot afford the ticket price - and it’s just $30! Please make a donation to help ONE or MORE girls.
On behalf of the girls you are empowering, we thank you.
