BECOME A PARTNER OF WAKE FOREST DANCE FESTIVAL AND GIVE THE GIFT OF DANCE!

PURPOSE:

Wake Forest Arts is thrilled to present Wake Forest Dance Festival, an inaugural one day, all day family friendly event that is free and open to the public . The focus of Wake Forest Dance Festival is to bring dance to the community and to bring the community together through dance. With over a 1,000 dancers in the local and regional area we want to celebrate the power of dance and share the passion for the art of movement with the community at large.

EVENT DETAILS:

Wake Forest Dance Festival is scheduled on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Wake Forest’s outdoor venue, E. Carroll Joyner Park. The day is a collaborative effort with professional organizations as well as our local talent to bring a day of dance to our community. The Wake Forest Dance Festival will make a dance performance accessible to the public with the goal to cultivate and strengthen knowledge and appreciation of dance in all forms for citizens, dance students of all ages, arts educators and all who grace the park.

Morning:

Technical Rehearsal will be an open event, a practice run through of the concert to be presented on stage in early evening. A liaison of the Festival will give an introduction, share background information about the production and what it takes to produce a show. This educational experience will also provide a Q&A portion with the dance professionals in an effort to establish a platform for deeper understanding of the dance works to be performed.

Afternoon:

Tour in Motion, is a guided walking tour, which utilizes various locations of the park to  present short site specific works of various dance styles. This immersive experience will explore the mobility of a dance performance and give the audience an opportunity to experience dance in an intimate setting while using unusual spaces for such presentations.

Early evening:

The Festival culminates in a staged concert featuring an outstanding collection of talent, including national and regional professionals performing a selection of masterpieces of both American classical and modern dance, and showcasing local advanced rising students in new choreography.

Become our partner and help us shape dance history!
