Walk For Freedom - Greater Sacramento
Organized by: Tiffany DeCourcey
EVENT DATE Oct 15, 2016
There are more slaves in the world today than at any other time in world history. Human trafficking is 2nd only to the drug trade in illegal industry. We tend to think human trafficking is a far off problem, but the Greater Sacramento Area is one of the roughest in the nation. It was in fact one of the top 5 worst cities for human trafficking in the US in recent years. We don't have to settle for being scared or heartbroken about the issue, we can take action for our vulnerable populations. We can be the voice for the voiceless, hope for the powerless. One Sacramento survivor explained the reason she hadn't tried to escape her traffickers by saying only that she didn't know there were good people in the world. The ONLY reason she didn't seek help ... was because she had no idea there was any person who had the capacity to treat her with respect. Her isolated world was one of darkness; she had no clue there were good people in the world. Let me say that one more time. She didn't know that there was such a thing as a good person. This can't happen. We all have so much love in our beings that even if we gave all we could to each of our family and friends, we would still have love leftover for these strangers. These people that just need someone to stand for them. On October 15th, THOUSANDS of people will walk in 270 cities worldwide FOR FREEDOM. The walk benefits A21, a global leader in the fight against human trafficking. I'm hosting the area's first Walk For Freedom and I need your help in making it happen. Your donation makes you a sponsor of one of the rare public events in the fight over modern-day slavery, and a partner for freedom. Every dollar goes to the walk and spreading education about this most heartbreaking cause. Your help is more appreciated than you can imagine. To volunteer for the event, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. To participate in the walk, please register at A21.org/Davis. Enormous thanks to you!
