The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity's Delta Rho chapter at Linfield College is hosting it's 1st Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes men’s walk to stop rape, sexual assault, and gender-based violence against women. The event will take place on May 2nd from 2:00-4:00 PM outside Riley Hall at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon.
The men of our fraternity will wear high-heels and walk a mile around Linfield's campus as a way to raise money and increase awareness to prevent sexual assault, domestic violence, and gender violence at Linfield, and throughout the world.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes was started in 2001 when a small group of men dared to walk around a park in high heels. Since then, it has grown to become a world-wide movement with tens of thousands of men raising millions of dollars for local rape crisis centers, domestic violence shelters and other sexualized violence education, prevention and remediation programs. This event is a light-hearted attempt to increase awareness about sexual violence against women.
Men, women, and families from the McMinnville community are encouraged to participate even if not wearing heels. 100% of funds raised will benefit the Henderson House, a domestic violence and sexual assault support services and counseling center in McMinnville, Oregon.
