Have you ever had an over whelming desire or passion in your heart to want to do something with your life that is bigger than yourself? To push yourself beyond what you thought you were capable of?
I have traveled all over the world, carrying Beads of Courage Team Beads with me along the way; on the Inca trail, up snow capped volcanoes, but never in my own country and there was still that little voice in my heart telling me I am meant for bigger things. I could help and inspire so many more people; I just needed a plan… then I realized:
I have been helped by SO MANY wonderful individuals along my travels, and I believe now is the time to ‘pay it forward’, and what better way of doing that then to see my own country, at my own pace, and carry a lot more Team Beads as I Walk across America for Beads of Courage!
As a member of Team Beads of Courage, I will Carry a TEAM BEAD to Give Hope and Honor the Courage of the children and teens who are members of Beads of Courage nationwide. I hope to Carry a Bead for every mile of my walk – that is 3,800 Team Beads! Every Bead that I carry will be given to a child who participates in the Beads of Courage Program.
My Walk across America will begin in May, 2013 starting in Seattle, WA and will continue for 3,800 miles to Savannah, GA over the course of about 8 months. Along my walk, I will visit 20 hospitals that currently provide the Beads of Courage Program. Upon my arrival at hospitals I hope to be joined by yoga instructors who will offer yoga and movement for kids, families and clinicians to strengthen mind-body wellness. I also plan on having blood and bone marrow drives in as many of the hospitals as I can. I would also like to start a “Walk with Me” project that allows anyone, anywhere, to “Walk with Me” in his or her own unique way. I'm still working out all the details on the hospital visits and projects, so I'll keep ya’ll posted!
HOW TO SUPPORT MY WALK AND BEADS OF COURAGE?
For every $10 that's donated, I will receive a CARRY A BEAD matching bead set. My goal is to carry a bead for every mile that I walk, that's 3,800 beads which has the potential to raise $38,000 for Beads of Courage!
