FUNDRAISER SET UP DEADLINE: Aug 15, 2013
Join hundreds for a 5K Walk/Run on the beautiful wooded campus of Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. All funds raised will be used in the Great Lakes Bay Region to host special events, training, and education in an effort to build awareness of mental health and suicide prevention, intervention and aftercare.
Our Walk for Hope is an opportunity to come together with others who believe in this cause. It is our hope that this event will de-stigmatize suicide and encourage those who are struggling with mental health or other life challenges, to seek out help from those who can support their needs.
Every 14 minutes someone dies by suicide in the United States. In 2010 there were over 38,364 people who died by suicide in the U.S. Of those, 1,265 family and friends were from right here in Michigan. Fewer than one-third of adults and one-half of children with diagnosable mental health disorders receive mental health services in a given year. SAMHSA
