I am walking in the 2nd annual Walk for Mass Children which begins in Boston on April 30 2015 and ends in Pittsfield, MA on May 9. This is a state-wide fundraiser where each day of the walk is sponsored by a children-focused nonprofit. The first day will be sponsored by Boston CASA, for which I am a volunteer and on the board of directors. All the funds I raise will go directly to Boston CASA which recruits, trains and supports volunteers who advocate for the best interest of children who are abused and neglected. I have been a CASA for 3 years and love the work. I intend to walk at least 4 days of the 10 day walk. (Those pesky people need me at home during the week!)
Happy to say that friend, Paige Brodie, is walking first leg with me. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join the walk. No need to sign up. If you're interested, I'll send you details on where to show up and how long each day's walk is.
I appreciate your support, your love, and your openness to learning more about how CASAs make a huge difference in vulnerable children's lives! Nick Kristof and Cheryl DuWunn's in their latest book, "A Path Appears," say, "...those who are succesful need to understand that the root cause of their achievements isn't just hard work and innate intelligence but also often luck in the lottery of birth followed by a supportive middle-class upbringing."
Let's all do what we can to lift up vulnerable children. Thank you!
