BENEFITING: Crohn's & Colitis Foundation
In 2002, at age 18, was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Over many years I struggled with the pain, discomfort and embarrassment that comes along with the diagnosis. Last year my wife and I did a walk in San Francisco to help raise money and awareness for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America(CCFA). When doing this walk, my wife and I grew inspired. My wife so much so, that she challenged herself to do her first half marathon with Team Challenge, an organization that works to help sponsor runners and raise money for CCFA. Through her being part of this, I was inspired. Not only by her, but by all the people that were part of the organization who are just like me. People that have struggled with Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's just like me. People who have lived my pain, experienced the same discomfort and were once embarrassed as I have often felt. They all taught me to embrace my disease and do my part to be part of the cure!
