We are walking in the 2016 Heart Walk to help raise awareness and promote research and education for heart disease and strokes, specifically Congenital Heart Defects. My daughter, who is 9 months old, was born with a congenital heart disease called Aortic Stenosis. She had to have a heart catheterization a few hours after she was born and another one at 3 months old. She will have to have open heart surgery sometime in the future to replace her narrowed aortic heart valve. There is currently no cure, only ongoing medical treatments. There are so many congenital heart defects and no cure for any of them. 1 in 100 babies are born with a congenital heart defect making it the most common cause of sudden death in infants. There is so very little funding and research done for this disease. We are walking to support our daughter and all of the silent little heroes out there facing a lifetime of medical interventions. We thank you for your donation from the bottom of our hearts <3
