BENEFITING: JUNIOR BLIND OF AMERICA
EVENT DATE: Oct 14, 2015
I started volunteering with Junior Blind in 2006, and since then, it has become a cause near and dear to my heart. Even with the many years of volunteer experience, I was never able to fully appreciate what it is like to be visually impaired, so thankfully, Junior Blind allowed me to participate in this blindness awareness experience – and of course, this being the age of capturing every life moment on film, I documented everything!
To help me through the day, Junior Blind paired me with a wonderful and inspiring young man named Calahan, who is visually impaired, to be my sighted guide. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the day a truly remarkable experience.
If you haven't heard of Junior Blind, I highly recommend that you look into supporting them, either by volunteering or making a donation. Your support will help hundreds of people who are blind, like Calahan, learn the skills they need to live independently. There are thousands of non-profits in Los Angeles alone, but this one is truly legit – visit http://www.juniorblind.org/WALKINHISSHOES and support them today!
