BENEFITING: American Cancer Society
Hello everyone. This fundraiser is to bring awareness of Colon Cancer that is caused by a Neuroendocrine Tumor. Carcinoid tumors of the colon are extremely rare tumors that make up less than 11 percent of all carcinoid tumors and only 1 percent of colonic neoplasms. Typically, carcinoid tumors of the colon present in the sixth to seventh decade of life during evaluation for anorexia, abdominal pain, and unintentional weight loss. This is why I would like to stress the importance of getting screened by having a colonoscopy at the age of 50. My mother was diagnosed with this disease in 2015 and she passed in January 2016. After her passing, I decided to turn my profound grief into action by challenging the area hospitals, family, and friends to dedicate themselves to research for a cure for this rare disease. Thank you for your support.
