BENEFITING: HISPANIC BROTHERHOOD OF ROCKVILLE CENTRE INC
The Hispanic Brotherhood is a non-for-profit organization that serves the Spanish-speaking families of Freeport, Oceanside, Lynbrook, and Baldwin, NY. Typically the organization works with people on housing and job placement, translation, immigration and legal assistance, child care, and emergency food. They have served the community since 1984.
Margarita Grasing, the Organization’s Executive Director, reached out to me today and shared that the people they serve are in desperate need of food, warm shelter, and supplies. The majority of these people have missed atleast a week of work due to gas shortages and school closings. They do not get paid if they do not work. They also are living in homes that are either flooded or without power with nowhere else to go. The Hispanic Brotherhood is providing hot meals, childcare services until school reopens, and relocation services to these families.
The South Shore of Long Island was hit very badly by Hurricane Sandy – particularly in this area. If you are looking for an organization to donate $$$ to that will be spent directly on people that need it the most, this is a good start. Even a few dollars help
