Mission: Wardrobe for Opportunity works in partnership with the community to assist low-income individuals in their efforts to “Find a Job, Keep a Job, and Build a Career.”
WFO works to bridge the income inequality gap in the Bay Area by providing over 2,000 low-income men and women annually with the education and resources they need to find employment, advance in their careers, and improve their financial health. WFO programs include professional clothing and career advancement courses, supporting low-income and working poor individuals at every stage of their career.
Find a Job: Our Find a Job programs include professional interview clothing, image coaching, and mock interview workshops with corporate volunteers.
In 2012, 71% of Find a Job program participants had an interview and 53% found a job within 45 days of their appointment.
Keep a Job: To increase job retention and help clients earn raises and promotions, WFO offers a week’s worth of professional clothing and a six-week career advancement course, Pathways.
In 2011, 96% of Pathways graduates retained employment and 39% earned an average 18% annual raise within six months of graduation.
Build a Career: Success Series combines intensive classroom instruction paired with mentoring and career coaching to move clients beyond entry-level positions. Graduates continue their education in our Alumni Program, which includes financial literacy workshops that help clients and their families move from economic stability to economic mobility.
In 2011, six months after graduation, Success Series graduates earned an average 11% raise and 78% reported high levels of job satisfaction and economic self-sufficiency.
