EVENT DATE: Dec 23, 2015
On April 25th, 2015, a massive earthquake hit Nepal, killing over 8,000 people. In addition, the homes and possessions of many thousands were destroyed in a matter of minutes. As the winter approaches, many of the affected Nepalese people, especially the children, still do not have good protection from the cold weather. I am a High School senior, and I have been collecting winter gear to send to Nepal. As a Boy Scout, I have had many experiences living in small shelters, but I cannot imagine doing so without warm clothing to protect me from the elements. I started working with the charity organization called Sky Foundation which helped rebuild villages, and in the last month, I have collected over 600 pieces of winter gear, including jackets, socks, and mittens. I hope these will help the children manage the severe Himalayan winters and march forward confidently. The hardest part of the logistics is over - or so I thought! I was shocked to find that shipping the items will cost over $2500. I am determined to make sure that these valuable items find their way to those who really need them before winter truly starts, and I hope you might help me by contributing any amount to this cause. Thank you!
