Warren B. Steele, II was born in Fort Carson, Colorado. One of seven children, his parents stressed the importance of a good education. He moved to Columbus after graduating from Harvard University with a B.A. degree in psychology and social relations in 1984.
Warren worked his entire professional career at Aflac and retired in 2004 as Senior Vice President, US Marketing.
Warren has served on several nonprofit boards and still serves in several volunteer capacities: on the Harvard Schools and Scholarships committee, on the Columbus Regional Health Board, where he is Chair of the board, on the board of MEEF (the Muscogee Educational Excellence Foundation), and on the board of the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy. In February 2012 he started the Muscogee County chapter of the Ferst Foundation after learning of the critical importance of early literacy skills for children before they enter school.
Warren has been a long time supporter of the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries, where he was featured in its "Geek the Library" campaign, and served on the committee that recently completed the 3-year Strategic Plan.
Warren is married to his wife, Lorie and has two children, Trey, 23 and Ariel, 19.
