THE STORY:

Yoga for Military

Help me take a course to get certified teaching yoga to soldiers and vets.

Over the past few years I have discussed many times with other Yoga Teachers an friends that I felt one day I would take my knowledge and experiences with Yoga/Fitness to help Soldiers, which is something near and dear to me as I am also a Yoga Teacher and Prior Sergeant in the US Army.

Yoga is one of the things that I used to change/better my-life/myself after leaving the Army. I have experienced injuries, stress, depression and the whole load of disturbances that come with living "The Soldier Life". I strongly believe practicing Yoga as a preventative positive pre-method will help Soldiers reduce the risks of injury, reduce stress, depression, suicide, PTSD associated with Military Life. As well as is a positive post-method to help Soldiers work through current challenges they are facing (PTSD, Stress, Injuries).

I have experienced injuries, stress, depression and many other challenges that arise while serving in the Army. I became a person that was always irritable, angry, depressed; which affected my entire life. I started practicing Yoga to help heal my physical injuries. Through practicing I began to notice I was calmer, less irritable happier. I began to read and study coaching, fitness, nutrition; focusing on what I loved, made me happy. I started living my passions.

I eventually found myself living in Dubai teaching Fitness and continuing to study and grow. In 2011 I got certified in NLP Life Coaching to help people change their lives. I always wanted to do a Yoga Teachers Training (YTT). I have complteted two trainings. 200hr in Hatha and a 200hr in Vinyasa with YogaWorks. In September I moved to Athens, Greece to take part in the 300hr training towards becoming a Senior Teacher. Unfortunately in Decemeber while cycling I was hit by a car and was an able to complete the course. I am on the way to healing and am moving back the the us to return to school.  I have lined up an oppurtunity to teach yoga to soldiers on Ft Benning, GA while I go back to school.

There is an amazing course called Warriors at Ease. It teaches Yoga Teachers how to teach Yoga to soldiers, vets and people that have face trauma, PTSD, sexaul abuse etc. The course starts on March 1st. I have been given a scholarship to attend the course I just need to raise the money to get me there.

So I am asking the Universe to help me make it happen.

I would love to use what I know to help make a difference in the lives as many people and soldiers as I can. I did not have someone there to teach me the things I now know, I sought it on my own. I sometimes wonder what would of happened if I had a teacher in my life when I was facing so many challenges. I came through those challenges and I am happy for every one of them as they have brought me hear and now so I would not change a thing.

I may have overcome many challenges but there are many soldiers that never make it though or are still battling them rather then learning and growing from them. The suicide rate with Soldiers and Vets is higher in the past 10 years then ever before.

All of these things can be prevented and helped through practice of Yoga.

I need to raise 3000usd to pay for the flight and hotel.
