It's not every day that you meet a family as special and inspirational as the Raymond Family . Those of you that know them are already aware of that, and those of you that don't will hopefully realize that through this fundraiser. My son plays basketball for CB South High School with Kevin Raymond ,Tim's brother. Over the last couple of years I have had the pleasure of getting to know them and the opportunity to experience the tireless commitment and selfless devotion and dedication they have towards honoring and remembering their son and brother Tim while raising awareness for the urgent need for organ and tissue donors.
Tim Raymond was a healthy and active 13 year old boy in 2010 when the H1N1 virus fueled by another infection took his life after his heroic battle to fight them off . Tim needed an organ donation and although he did receive one his body had struggled for so long that he did not make it through the surgery. If Tim had received a donor sooner he may be alive and with his family today.
Tina and John Raymond started a non-profit organization called Warriors For Tim to promote the urgent need for organ and tissue donation in the memory and honor of their son . Warriors For Tim has raised over $100,000 for The Gift Of Life House and has now partnered with the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia to create a fund that will help families facing the long and grueling transplant process. Warriors For Tim will receive all donations from this fundraiser that will go to the Warriors For Tim Transplant Fund at the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia.
There are several reasons that I chose to do this fundraiser . It celebrates and honors the life of Tim Raymond , raises awareness for the urgent need for organ and tissue donation and it gives recognition and acknowledgment to Tina, John and the Raymond family for all the good they have done in the name of their son and brother Tim.
The half marathon is 13 miles which was Tim's age at his untimely passing. On a personal level I plan to dedicate each mile to honor a year of Tim's life. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Tim , I know he will be the wind at my back helping me reach the finish line.
The donations raised by this fundraiser will only be a drop in the ocean compared to the funds raised to date by Warriors For Tim but with your help we can make it more of a splash in the ocean. The Raymond Family are the first to lend a helping hand to those in need which makes it feel even better to do something for them. Please join me by making a donation . All you have to do is click on the Donate button at the top right of this page. Donations are tax deductible.
I can only touch the surface of all the good that has been done by the Raymond Family through Warriors For Tim. To get the complete story you really need to visit www.WarriorsForTim.org .
Thanks for your support!
