I have enjoyed running for much of my adult life, and over time I have done it for various reasons. Most often I run for enjoyment, which all the more increased when I met my wife who also happens to share the joys of running! A good friend of mine moved to New York several years ago, and since then I have been trying to get into the NYC Marathon through the lottery, but have failed to be selected. As it happens, right after getting married, my wife entered the lottery as well and was chosen on her first try! To make sure I can run with her for what will be our first marathon, we decided to look for a charity with a worthwhile cause, and that is how we found Water For People. Throughout my time in college I became friends with many people who are from, live in, or work in foreign countries where clean water is a dire need. Several friends of mine involved in missionary work see this first hand. In addition, I have acquaintances that are connected to water projects with other organizations, supporting the same cause. So to be a part of the Team Water For People means a great deal to me! Both me and my wife are excited to help support this charity and their noble cause as we train to run the NYC marathon.
Team Water For People will be running all of NYC's 5 boroughs to support Water For People and mirror what millions of people around the world do everyday--travel long distances to collect clean water for their families. Not Everyone runs a marathon, but Water For People believes that everyone should have access to clean water and proper sanitation Forever.
Your donations go directly to Water For People to finance their water and sanitation programs in Africa, India, Central America and South America--programs that grow out of their belief that Everyone should have access to clean water and proper sanitation Forever.
