Do you know what feels like something impossible for me to do? Running a marathon. Do you know what else feels like something that is impossible to do? Solving the problem of lack of access to clean drinking water and sanitation in developing countries. But – guess what? Water for People is doing just that – they have identified where it is possible, developed a plan for achieving it and are working through the steps to ensure that communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America will have 100% coverage for water and sanitation. And they do it through the support of thousands of donors. This a charity close to my heart, one that I have volunteered and fundraised for over a decade. What they are doing is completely impressive to me. So guess what I am going to do? I’m going to run a marathon. The New York City Marathon on 11/5/17. And I’m going to do what Water for People is doing – I’ve set a goal, I’ve got a plan, I’m taking steps to prepare and I’m looking for support. I’ll work on the running part – but I need your support to raise over $2500 as part of my commitment to Water for People as I participate in this race. Here’s the thing – you don’t have to care about why I’m running or this particular organization – we all have charities that are close to our hearts. But what would be so encouraging to me, as I train for this thing that I still tell myself is impossible for me, is if I can see your support for what I am doing. Your contribution to this fundraising campaign that is anywhere from $3 to $25 would say “Hey Jean, I see what you are doing here. I think it’s kinda crazy and kinda awesome. Here’s $XXX (insert dollar value here)”.
